Frequently asked questions about fast cash colorado springs

  • This is how it goes down.My mom has already bought a horse in september. We keep our horse at barn called pen rose it's location is in colorado springs, colorado.Right now there are about 50 horses there included ours! There is one in particular named lorenzo. He is a stallion,he is a palomino i think. He has a owner who hasn't seen him in like 9 months.Me and my mom are thinking about buying him.He is being mistreated. No one likes him no one ever pets him except for me and my mom.The reason why he are looking to buy him is because he is very lonely the other horses i think don't like him.Like today for instance.I want to give him a carrot and I looked in his stall and he is in a outside stall and his stall looked horrible it made me want to cry and believe a lot of people agreed with me.There are to parts of the stall a square kind of thing were they lay down to sleep back there it's supposed to have shavings in there and when I looked there were no shavings at all and back there there are mats and we i want there the back was striped and all that was back there was the mats and lots and lots and lots of poop it looked like it hadn't been clean in months. The other part which is just like little walk way where you can put blankets and stuff on the horse and do lots of other things. The walk way was just all poop it was at least an inch and a half it was just disgusting! It was so bad you justed wanted to call the humane soceity and arest the person who did this. The reason why we want to buy him is cause if we don't they might slauter him and I really don't want that happening. The reason why I am asking is how do I get my parents to buy him is because. We already have a horse named eliott he is a thourabrde.(sorry I am not sure how to spell the word.) He is 17 hands so he is really big I am only 5'3.The last time I rode him, well he wanted to run and we were riding in the dressage arena and he wanted run i guess. The arena was on a hill surtof thing.(again sorry If i missed spelled the last word.).Well this is what happend we were riding and there was a person who was either leaving or coming in,anways when the door opened eliott just took off really fast and I had no choice but to jump off.Well anywayz(oh and by the way he is 7 years old his birthday is mar/29 so he just turned 7.) Me and my mom wanted to get a horse who was small and who was slow enough for me and my younger brother jacon(8 years old). The problem is though that lorenzo hasen't been rode in a long time so we are not sure if he is dangerous plus we would have to get him gelded and get the farier to look at his feet and to get him trained! We are also moving to texas in june.We are taking elliott. Before for that though I think tommorow or so time this week we are moving to a different barn in fountain colorado. So my question is how do I get my parents to let me get lorenzo. Also I will be taking lesson at the new barn so I will know how to ride.In the mean time my mom's friend dylis who is also at penrose is also moving to fountain colorado. The drive is 40 mins to our house to the new barn.Dilys has a horse named sterling that I can ride so I will be able to ride him in the meantime!
  • If you really HAVE to have this horse then you of course know that a stallion that hasn't been handled and is mistreated will be a challange! Not impossible however! First see if you can cover the cost, you could geld him (anywhere from 200-400) but it may not necessarly change some stallion like behavior as that behavior is learned. You will need to have his teeth floated, (200-300) he will need to be shod every 6-8 months, and make sure he is utd on shots and will need to be wormed every two months. This is not even the basics, horses can be stupid and it is nice to have a 'safety net' of cash set aside for the one nail they'll inevetably find and step on in the whole field. (emergency vet money) If the costs are not an issue then perhaps speaking with the owner (who seems to not be around much) to see if he will just sell him to you. It is nicely thought out that you plan on working with a trainer on this one! Please know that your work with this stallion more then likely will not start out in the saddle. It will take lots of ground work training and lessons before it would be safe to start him in saddle as it seems from what you have written that he hasn't been worked with. It should be said that it is very admirable that you and your mother have the heart and are willing to 'rescue' this stallion from a life that is less than par, but proper horse ownership is estremely costly and even more time consuming. My best advice is to make sure that if you and your mother do 'adopt' or 'rescue' this stallion is that you have enough money and time to properly take care of him, so down the road he doesn't need to be 'rescued' from his rescuers.
  • okay some people are being really nasty to you! here's what i think you should do. you should call a rescue facility or something in your area and see if they are willing to buy him. or, you could see how cheap you can get him, buy him, then see if you can give him away to a better home. find the new home FIRST though, you don't want to buy a horse that you can't handle and then find you're stuck with him, especially when you're moving. also, talk to an experienced horse owner who is also at the barn. maybe he's not treated as badly as you think. i don't think any sensible barn would allow a horse to live in such a condition, so you may just be overreacting. just make sure you stay realistic, as horses are expensive and a lot of work. as for the other answers that were really rude, you need to just lay off. you don't know anything about this girl's riding or her experience or this horse, and if you want to say something helpful you can phrase in nicely.
  • not to be critical but it sounds like u don't really no how to ride well, not at the advanced level you will need to be at any way to be able to buy lorenzo and since u already have one horse wont it take time away from him making him like how lorenzo is? I'm a a pretty darn good rider and i don't even have a horse and wont this be the first lesson u will be taking when u move? it sounds like your parents have been teaching you or something i think it would be better off to call the humane society and get the poor horse to a stable environment where he can have all the vet care and have some one adopt him where it wont be a burden since u are moving and all it would just be to much to handle don't u think? but i do agree with your concern and i no u just want the best for him but do u think the best would really be moving him to one place then another? wouldn't that just be causing him more stress think of the well being of the animal
  • Lorenzo would be a disaster for your family. An unhandled, unridden stallion is NOT the easy going horse needed for beginner kids (and I can tell your brother is not the only beginner here). Even if you get him gelded, he has learned a lot of bad behaviors, and has not been taught some good ones. Also, it will be expensive to move him around so much since you are moving soon anyway. Instead, once you move to Texas, look for a nice, calm, well-trained older large pony or small horse for you and your brother.
  • You don't sound very experienced, it doesn't matter how many years you have been riding, it depends on how good you ride. And from what I have read, it doesn't look like you are ready for a stallion. Especially one that hasn't been ridden for a long time. You should contact a local rescue to take him. They can give him the proper care he needs.
  • Talk to your mum, you should show her how much you like Lorenzo by going and mucking out his stall, it sounds horrible! Also if you are already bringing your other horse it would not be too hard to transport a second. I really hope that you are able to buy him!
  • No. If your parents don't want to buy the horse then no. I mean, come on.. the country is in a terrible state with money--- I had to give up my PASSION (rodeo)--so just flow with it. Everyones hurting, you already have horses. Be happy.
  • All I saw was : blah blah blah blah I want a horse! blah blah blah. I'm sorry but I can't be all happy fluffy, seriously your parents kow what's best and when the time's right IF you work hard enough then you'll get a horse. The economy is down, money is going to be tighter, and you should just be happy with what you have instead of wanting more. I'm sorry I wasnt raised to have parents buy their kids everything they wanted, I was raised to work for what I want. I think alot of people these days just want handouts. edit: oh you want a second horse? okay I'm just not going to touch that, slightly spoiled and wanting to live beyond your means. . . yeah I cant see how we got to this state of mind in this country where everything should be handed to us edit edit: A stallion. .. *walks away shaking her head* I hope you have a good family doctor and family lawyer. again not touching. just walk away raven. . walk away.
