Frequently asked questions about bad credit loan colorado springs

  • i live and go to school in colorado and my parents live in virginia. they are paying for half of my college right now. there is one loan in my name and the other in their name. me and my parents have a good relationship right now but they are still trying to control my life. they keep telling me that it's my life and i have to make my own personal decisions and that they try not to meddle in my personal life. however i brought up going to cancun, mexico for spring break with my friends and my dad said "you're NOT going" then i asked him isn't it my deicison and he said that i could go but he's going to pray that i have the worst time of my life. (we're a christian family) then the other day he randomly brought up that if my grades ever drop that he's cutting me off financially when i get good grades. i was so open with them to let them know eveything that went on in my life even if they didn't agree with it but now i feel like i can't b/c it's like i'm in fear of doing anything b/c they'll cut me off. i'd rather pay for college on my own and work with my financial aid office then feel like they own me when they keep hovering it over my head. but i don't want it to affect our relationship. we're all going to sit down and talk about things next week when i'm home for thanksgiving. how do i approach this?
  • What? Sounds like your cutting off your nose to spite your face as the saying goes. I'd say it's well worth financial help with college verses having your own way. Are you Crazy? And be respectful & loving & they'll meet you half way. They said so. They only said keep up your grades & all is well so what are you griping about. I wouldn't call that controlling your life but caring for it. If you want big credit card debt when you get out of college continue acting & sounding like you did in your letter. With no financial help How do you think you would be able to get to Cancun. Really you are sounding a bit like a spoiled brat. I'm sorry to have to say that. Wake Up
  • First, I would find out what your parents object to - the actual girl, the relationship? Your morals? Find that out. Maybe you can work something out.. My dad and I had a fight in the summer between my sophmore and jr yrs in college. I did have a couple of scholarships and worked summers at the Boeing Company and the rest of the year at an IHOP as a waitress. He cut off all financial help. I did make it but it was tough and I surely wouldn't have had time to maintain a relationship of any kind after he took away the $. lol I was either in class, working, sleeping or studying. I lost 21 pounds (and I was not fat to begin with from Junior yr to graduation - I did graduate early - Jan - before the June I would normally have graduated at. I also thought I would never get rested up again!! It taught me a lot about myself. I had been fairly 'social' before the funds were cut and boy, no time for that then. It was hard to give up friends, free time and having a social life but I just sat down and thought this is the only way I can make it through -- so that is what I did and I decided I was going to do it as fast as I could so as not to prolong the misery. It was very tough and lonely, too. I think it made me a stronger person and more able to cope with adversity in later yrs but I'm not sure I would choose to do that again if I knew then what I know now. lol Also though I did have a car in my name and kept it, I rarely drove because it meant gas and parking which all cost $. I rode a bike all the time and since I worked about 2 miles away from my apt and the school was about 1-1/2 miles away I sure did get my exercise. I was lucky in that we got a 'free' meal with every shift and I worked 6 days a week so I would eat every ounce I could hold at work and survived on bacon, eggs, peanut butter and crackers on the 7th day!! I was also surprised that your body can get used to eating 1 large meal a day! Good luck! Good luck!
  • It's all about the money you plan to spend on a vacation. When my daughters were in school, it was an issue for their father and me. Since we were paying for their schooling and did not feel like we could afford to go on vacation, it didn't seem right. They finally got together a vacation plan that cost very liitle money. It made us both happy.
