Frequently asked questions about california payday

  • If it is regular wages and you are a standard, non-contract, non-union, non-government employee check the State Labor Board website http://www.dir.ca.gov/dlse/FAQ_Paydays.h... Very last Q&A gives the procedure. If you are an independent contractor, review your contract. If you are a union worker, call your union rep. If you are a State worker, cry.
  • your state is bankrupt pal. to many liberals running the show and now you are paying the price for their incompetence. you most likely won't be getting paid so move on,
  • Don't worry about it. Some places pay the previous business day or some places pay on the closest workday. 2 days shouldn't matter. Good luck.
  • There is NO law for that. You are made aware of the practices at hiring time.
  • if you owe them money and haven't yet paid yes you can
  • You can be sued for any money you owe that you don't pay back. A payday loan place is a bad choice because they're used to dealing with deadbeats and are good at collecting money.
  • If you don't pay soon interest go up and you'll be sued for a lot more money then you already owe
  • ?? Of course. If you sign ANY contract and renege on the conditions, you can be sued. Did you think you could just walk away without paying?
  • If you don't pay them back, yes you can. No free money for you.
  • you could when i was there for three times the amount of check plus fees
  • Yes...
  • If you committed a crime against them, yes, they can.
  • Companies do not file criminal charges. That's a power reserved for the state.
  • NO!!! It's just like any other loan. They might "ding" your credit or sue you if you live close to them, but that's all. They are otherwise powerless. All they can do is bug you. Don't believe anyone who says otherwise. Employees of these companies look for questions like these on Yahoo Answers and disseminate false information.
  • They can report you to the police, or sue you. Filing criminal charges is usually reserved to the DA, or police.
  • Go to this site: http://www.dir.ca.gov/dlse/dlseWagesAndH...Click on either (pdf) or (doc) where it says: Time, Manner and Payment of Wages - English - Updated 11/08 ( pdf) ( doc) That explains it in full. Also, if you decide you have a claim they have the paperwork for you to fill out on the site too (more towards the top). Good Luck.
  • Contact the State Labor Board and file a claim. The state labor board acts to enforce and arbitrate the issue, for free. Hiring an attorney cost money and a lawyer may not take your case since you're paycheck may not be that much... so this becomes more of a small claims court case. If you file a small claims lawsuit, be sure to cite laws that gives "damages".
  • You should always consult with a lawyer when unsure about your rights, but this sort of thing is really easy to deal with in court. You claim they owe you, the judge asks for their employment payment records, then they are unable to prove that you've been paid. The judge will order you be paid, perhaps with damages (though that's dependent on other factors).
  • Under CA law an employer is penalized one days pay for every day they are late paying the wages, up to a maximum of 30 days. DLSE does not directly sue for the recovery of wages - you need to sue your employer yourself. However, you probably don't need a lawyer as you can sue them in small claims court. Richard
  • You can call the state or federal tax departments and make sure that the required deductions have been made. You really should look for another job. A business that doesnt pay its employees is maybe going to fail. What pay period is normal for you ? weekly , two weeks or monthly. There are penalties for paying late. http://www.dir.ca.gov/dlse/dlseWagesAndH...
  • if your home base is TX you follow TX law, if they have an office in CA they follow CA law
  • Where the business is. You are working at a client location, off site from your employer. Honestly, you choould be able to budget your money and be fine no matter how many times the pay comes. It's the same amount regardless.
  • We were discussing my Mother's upcoming vacation in a few weeks and she explained to me that although it's great to have a week off from work she doesn't like the week she returns to work because she doesn't receive a check that Friday. This sounded odd. When she first started working there she had to work 1 week without a check because they have a one week lag. She received her first check on the Friday of her 2nd week. For the last 8 years every time she takes vacation she receives a check the Friday of her vacation (because of the lag, these wages were earned the week prior) but the next Friday she doesn't receive one for not working the week prior (vacation week). Does it make sense for an employer to claim to give you one week paid vacation, yet the week you return you don't receive pay because you didn't work the week prior? I've read different CA policies but this situation is a bit more complicated. Any suggestions? Any help is greatly appreciated! Thank you!
  • California law doesn't mandate that you get a paid vacation. That is up to the employer. It seems that your mother gets one week of unpaid vacation. That is perfectly legal. If she disagrees, she should contact her HR department or read her employee handbook. Company policies regarding paydays and vacations pay are spelled out in the handbook.
  • Sounds very much to me like she doesn't get a paid vacation.
  • She obviously is not getting paid vacation, unless she gets a double check the next week.
  • Hi I owe like 5 payday advance companys and just have no way of making payments right now, I received a letter from one of them saying there giving me a" notice of intent to pursue civil collection efforts" what does that mean? Does it mean there gonna send my debt to a collection agency or will they sue me? I live in California if that makes a difference..... Please advice from people who have been in my shoes before....
  • it may even be worse than you think if you have 5 not only can the sue you but you just may be arrested for fraud
  • It means they want to take you to court to get a judgement against you. With that, they will be able to report you to credit bureaus and mess up your credit score. They will also be able to garnish your wages to get paid back. If they garnish your wages that means they get paid before you do, so you won't be able to say you "just have no way of making payments right now". You need to pay it off so find a way. There is always a way. Borrow from family or boyfriend. Get a second job. Get a credit union loan. Ask your employer for some overtime hours. Return some stuff to the store you didn't use to get refunds. Sell stuff you don't need anymore, including your car if you can take a bus or carpool to work. Ask your utility companies to give you an extension so you can pay them in a couple of weeks. Cancel your cell phone and cable and internet, so you save on those bills. These companies are predators, and hope to find people who fall into their clutches and "roll over" loans so they get ever bigger fees. Once you can break their cycle, you will be much better off.
  • They can only do, with what you fear the most! have no fear = nothing! have fear they got ya! I knew a guy who made it a hobby ripping this rippers off! and then would just move to another town! and he's still going I'm sure!
  • Yes, but they can also prosecute you for passing a bad check.
  • Of course if you don't pay what you owe you can be sued.
  • Both!
  • If you are quitting your job then they can pay you on the next scheduled payday, on the other hand if you are being fired they have to have your check within three days.
  • If you voluntary quit your job they don't have to pay you until the next scheduled payday. If you are fired they have to pay you right away
  • Your employer is legally obligated to pay you on the posted pay date. Check your postings at work. Normally they are located in the break room and/or a employee rest area. Expect your pay on the 20th and 5th of each month. If for some reason the pay day lands on a non-banking day then expect your check the day before the non-banking day. Employers can change the pay day as long as they notify you in advance. But dont think they can change it every other pay day...
  • in california if the employee is fired they must be paid IMMEDIATELY if the employee quits without notice the employee must be paid within 72 hours if the employee quits and gives 72 or more hours of notice they must be paid immediately. see: http://www.dir.ca.gov/dlse/FAQ_Paydays.h...what do you mean by "illegal termination"? can't answer based on what have here..........
  • Contact your local Labor Relations Board thru the unemployment agency and ask them -they know the answers to these kinds of things. I think they must pay by the next pay period after the check was due to be given to you. But I have no way to reference for sure not knowing California law.
  • They have to be paid for the time they actually worked. There is no requirement for payment beyond that, or for severance pay.
  • The employer must pay the final paycheck by the end of your next pay period, whatever that is. For other disbursements, time may be extended. For information on Wage and Hour laws, you should look at the US Department of Labor web site: http://www.dol.gov
  • No more than 2 weeks. Whenever your would normally receive a pay check. Have you tried calling your former employer to find out what's up?
  • I got fired from my job on Sunday, and i asked my manager if i would get my last paycheck, and he said i would. When i asked when, he said within 72 hours, which is 3 days. It is thursday, has been over 4 days since i got fired. I looked online and it says that California state law says i should receive it within 3 days of my termination. Is it possible that they will give it to me on the next payday, which is next week? Is it possible because in the manner in which i got fired, that they are withholding my paycheck? Isn't it not allowed for them to keep my last paycheck from me, regardless of what happened between me and the employer? What should i do? Should I talk to my manager? Thanks
  • when an employee is fired they MUST be paid immediately it is 72 hours if the employee quits without at least a 3 day notice http://www.dir.ca.gov/dlse/FAQ_Paydays.h...file a wage complaint and the employer may have to pay you for every day it is late....... http://www.dir.ca.gov/dlse/HowToFileWage...
  • Usually i can call in monday mornings and see that my payment was processed the night before and will be available to withdraw from the atm on monday night about 830p. What if monday is a holiday, like today...the 4th of july? Are the payments processed monday night ( on a holiday?) ajd be available on tuesday or will they process tuesday night and be available wednesday night?
  • The atm card is from the state and issued by Bank of America and not connected to a bank account. Its so the state can pay your disability and unemployment benefits without printing and mailing checks every 2 weeks. The correct answer is ....they pay you the day after the monday holiday. My benefit was updated last night and will be available tonight at 830. I had a stroke and All this is a bit overwhelming at times.. Thanks for your help
  • Are you using a bank account to withdraw from ATM? Go online and to your bank website, login and check if the money were placed on your account. I would not go to work in them morning if money would not be on my account. I am checking every payday before going to work...
  • They are usually processed on the workday before the holiday, not after. Call in now.
  • is state disability paid weekly bi weekly or once a month and on what dat?
  • If the 15th and 30th are the published paydays, then yes. CA law requires an employer to publish the days on which employees will be paid, and calls for an automatic penalty of 1 days pay for each day they are late, up to a maximum of 30 days per occurrence. Richard
  • Depending on the state, but most states allow your employer up to 30 days to pay you (from the supposed payday).
  • 72 hours, they must pay you by the end of business on Tuesday....... http://www.dir.ca.gov/dlse/FAQ_Paydays.h...
  • We are not psychic. Did you ask your boss?
  • I'm fairly certain you must wait until the next pay period. At least that's the way it is in Ontario. I began work and didn't get paid for 3 and a half weeks because I began in the middle of a pay period. You'd think they'd just pay you what you've worked so far, but if you've only worked there for a week and 2 days, then you may just get paid for the 2 days before the new week or (pay period) began then the rest would go on the next paycheck.
  • the company themselves should have no control over teh 401k funds at all - you should be contacting the 401k administrator directly (Fidelity/TRowe Price - whoever manages the fund) it is possible they have not yet deposited your contributions from last month yet - My company only deposits them once per month around the middle of the month fore all contributions I made the prior full month By LAW - they have to give you your final paycheck no later than normal payday for that pay period - I would call and threaten to report them to the state dept of Labor on that violation if they don't get a check in the mail to you by TOMORROW contact the 401k administrator - even if the company still has funds to deposit into your acct, you can still rollover/withdraw whatever is in there now - it will take a couple of weeks anyway - they will send you any future deposits later if you withdraw the money = they will withhold 20% for taxes and you will OWE Income tax on the full amount (which when added to your other income may be more than 20%) PLUS you will have to pay an additional 10% early withdrawal penalty at tax time next year if you are under 59-1/2
  • my girlfriend works for a daycare in California. most of the kids are payed for by CCRC which is a state program that is for lowincome famies. they are delaying payment to the daycare from the previouse month. is it legal for the daycare to just not pay the employees. we will lose our place and utilities soon if not payed what if anything can we do. I attend college and we have a 5 year old son. we dont have the credit to get another place if we lose this one. please if anyone has answers about this.
  • Although it may be covered by state law, it is certainly covered by federal law. Wage and Hour Division of the Department of Labor looks at 'slow pay' the same as 'no pay'. Contact Wage and Hour, give them the details, and see what happens, in the meantime, tell the gf to start looking for a job that pays her on time.
  • California State Labor Board. You are entitled to backpay and damages. You will need to provide some limited paperwork and they will actively and thoroughly investigate. They will get your money back for you. It sounds like the day care center has its own cash flow problems but do not be deterred by their problems. You and your family must come first! Good Luck
  • The department of labor is your best bet..
  • no
  • Hi, I am having a bit of a problem with my past employers. I gave my two week notice on Aug 3rd, saying that my last day would be Wed, Aug 17th. It is now Aug 26th and I have not received my check yet. My employers say that the check will arrive today. I heard though, that each day that goes by from Aug 17th, that I would get a full day pay each day. Is this true? I have been calling my employers this past week wondering when I would be getting my check and they keep making excuses like, "the program we use to terminate employees, is very confusing", etc. you had two weeks to figure it out... I liked my past job, but I have better things to do then call higher management trying to figure out when they are going to get off their butts and get my check in my hands.
  • Ca law says that if you resigned they have to the next scheduled payday to pay you, what you heard is if you are terminated
  • "I heard though, that each day that goes by from Aug 17th, that I would get a full day pay each day. Is this true? " You heard WRONG. Plus in SOME areas they have 30 days from your leaving the job so it depends on your area.
  • Does your company calculate and print the paychecks themselves, or do they send the work out to a company like ADP to print up paychecks? If your boss sends out the payroll work, that could account a delay happening the week AFTER the holiday...since the payroll company is doing the same amount of work in a shorter amount of time. But in your case, the calculations and printing would have happened long before the holiday. When are the paychecks physically in the building? If you have to wait for them to be sent in from an outside company, it might be out of your boss's hands. If he actually has them in his hands before the holiday, he's probably just being a prick. Check your company's policy about that. Most medium-to-large companies have written guidelines on how holidays affect pay schedules. If the company handbook is on your side, and your boss has the actual checks in plenty of time, take your concerns politely and calmly to the HR department, and if that doesn't work call your local labor board. Just because he's a boss, doesn't mean he has the right to play God with your pay.
  • Yes he is allowed to do that....it sucks and is not right but that is the way some places do.....it's all about keeping the money another day in thier account to collect the interest off of your paycheck. And there is nothing you can do about it. Sorry.
  • Normally if payday is a holiday than you are paid the day before. Not sure if it is legal or not to hold checks.
  • yes he must give them to you on the day of normal payday or the day before....he could call you all in and give them to you on the day you are off but why would you want to do that?...if he gives them to you after 2:00 p.m. on the day before they should not hit his bank until that following monday anyway
  • @ my work, they ALWAYS give us our paychecks BEFORE. He's allowed, he's the boss. and a prick.
  • no because they would have that check probably on that wednesday or thursday they shouldn't hold it
  • I suggest you to try project payday, simply because you don't need any money up front and you can start making money within minutes. I average around 3,500 dollars every month with it. Check it out at http://tr.im/kjOY
  • I think that the minimum age is 16.
  • I worked for FedEx in Oakland CA. I put in my 2 weeks notice of resignation for my last day to be August 8th. It is now Aug. 30th and I have not received my final paycheck. I moved to AZ and gave them the address before I left CA. Do they owe me the penalty fees (pay for each day that I did not receive it up to 30 days as stated in CA Labor Law) and if so, how do I go about getting tis taken care of? Thanks
  • did you provide them a self addressed stamped envelope? in the future make sure you do, that way there is no way for them to claim they did not have the correct address...... have you spoken to the employer and asked about the check? if not why not? they are subject to the penalty if they knowingly withheld the check but if you failed to pick it up and have failed to contact them it is likely that this will not be seen as their fault..... http://www.dir.ca.gov/dlse/FAQ_Paydays.h...you file a complaint with the state, they will determine if there is a penalty.... do NOT count on getting anything more than your last check....... to file see: http://www.dir.ca.gov/dlse/HowToFileWage...
  • Many employers would like to have employees work 10-hour days, four days a week, but they can’t just automatically have employees work that schedule to avoid paying overtime. In order for an employer to implement a 4/10 workweek, the schedule has to be voted in by two-thirds of the employees. The employer has to file certain paperwork with the California Division of Labor Statistics and Research. Without doing that, the company can still have an employee work 10 hours a day, but it would have to pay overtime for those extra two hours each day.
  • Honestly, I am not sure whether you are subject to receive penalty fees. However, if they have not paid you your final paycheck, I would consult a lawyer. Try to find a lawyer that will give you a free consultation. They will be able to tell you what you can do without you actually having to spend money yet. If they are in violation, that could mean a lot more money for you.
  • call them and find out what's up.
  • who cares it's just one day there are people out there that have no jobs, go complain over something so stupid and you'll see how quickly your name will get into a file of first people to get fired when the company is laying off people
  • the reason they won't permit your money tests until after 3 PM Fridays is that the economic business enterprise is going onto next DAY'S paintings at 3 PM. this suggests that the transactions processed by ability of the economic business enterprise after 3 PM Fridays will undergo money owed Monday, even nonetheless the economic business enterprise is open to 5 PM or later. The business enterprise can subsequently take great thing approximately what's called "glide" in that he has use of the money over the weekend even nonetheless he has given you a verify dated Friday. regrettably, it is definitely criminal, as long as you're given the verify dated Friday in the past lifeless night on Friday. If this could be a topic, have the banking regulations replaced or exchange employers.
  • Just curious, I work in CA and my boss has not paid me in weeks. She's missed my payday for weeks now and she won't lay me off. If I quit now, will I still be able to collect unemployment? I heard it really depends on the situation, but she hasn't paid me and no one from HQ is answering me, so what are my chances to collect unemployment until I find new work?
  • You should talk to her. Maybe she's mailing you checks that you're not getting. She can't not pay you. If she's intentionally not paying you wages, you can sue.
  • No. You can't voluntarily leave a job and get unemployment. If your boss is not paying you, you need to contact your state labor board.
  • It depends: A terminated employee must be paid immediately upon termination: There are some exceptions for certain industries and situations. A person who quits must be paid by the next regular payday. There are always exceptions for disputed funds like turning in company property. It shouldn't be too difficult for the company to figure out what it owes for vacation time and extra hours. HR should be able to put that together in an hour or two. http://www.dir.ca.gov/dlse/faq_paydays.h...
  • Sorry, I don't know California law, but I will say that any employer who delays your pay without good reason or makes it difficult for you to collect vacation/overtime hours is NOT an employer to stick with. The problems will only get worse.
  • If you are not getting paid on time you need to go talk to your local labor office. Once notified of the late paydays the labor officials will get involved, because they can fine your employer day by day until he pays up, and hey, every governmental branch is looking for the extra money, and that's what they do. They make sure that hard working employees get their paychecks when they are due! And if an employer isn't paying up, they get to pay fines and fees and are watched even closer afterwards.
  • File a complaint with the department of labor. The company is required to give you your check on the designated days unless it happens to fall on a weekend or a federal holiday upon that happening, they are required to give you your check the next day. It doesn't matter if you are still "on the clock" you are required to get compensated for the time that you put in. Chances are you can recover sanctions against the company.
  • Ok. i need $250 dollars by when school starts back up again at the end of august.....im 14, and im looking for a summer job i can get to earn this money. an elderly couple said they'll pay me to do a couple of jobs around the house, but i know i wont make $250 doing that. So yeah, if u have any ideas of jobs i can do, plz tell me. and plz dont reply saying to sell lemonade, or to do a car wash, or to help old people or to cut grass....i know i can do all that, but it will take me a while to get to $250.....any suggestions??? any would help! thx!
  • You must get a job to make these monies. Street beggars in big cities can earn 100,000$ per year, its been documented. But you will work for your payday.
  • hey tell your mom to take you to the police department and drop you off because thats where you need to be i hope you never get a job and end up in prison for the rest of you life you punk.someone will get you for the way you talk about others children telling me to hit my disable child over the head with a hammer. you are finished in this chat room i'll make sure of that
  • I keep getting letters from my old company saying I owe them over $700 dollars. I never received this money, I have told them this several times. Last time I responded I told them to provide proof that the money was sent to me. They just now responded with none, still saying I owe them. Heres the deal, my last two days I had worked was paid to me June 8th (this was for the pay period of 05/14-05/27). I didnt receive anything after. This is their letter: "The direct deposit you received on June 8, 2007 is for the pay period 05/28-06/10. As previously stated [company] pays current with adjustment in arrears. That means you were paid your full 80 hours for two weeks ending on Sunday, 06/10 after payday of Friday, 06/08. However, you did not work any hours during this time. The net amount for this direct deposit was $180.76. Thus, as you can see, you did not receive a direct deposit in the amount of $734.34. The net overpayment total of $734.34 is the amount you owe Princess Cruises."
  • So they are jumping back and forth trying to say they paid me in advance for the two weeks I didnt work. I never received this money, all I received was for the last two days I HAD worked, on June 8th. How do I get them to stop saying I owe them, when Ive already written them formally several times saying such. Where do they get off trying to say I owe them for not working? I'd understand if they had SENT me the money, but they hadn't. I cant ignore it because they will try to send me to collections and that will affect my credit. And look, they admit that they didnt send me the money in this last letter, so how can they say I owe it, if by own admission they never sent it?
  • In this last letter they sent, if you look at the second to last line above, by their own admission they did not send this money to me. Plus they really would need to look at their own records to provide proof they had sent it. To send them a copy of my bank statement infringes on my privacy. I did try communicating over the phone in the beginning, but all I got was voice mails after voice mails, and when they responded to my voice mails they were vague and stated they would send me the letter. Also, to have documented proof, everything at this point would need to be in letter format. But so I am right that for them to continue to say I owe after I continuously dispute it, is harrassment? Lawyers cost money, I was hoping by going to the labor board I could get them to stop that way...
  • you do not need a lawyer -- take all of this paper work to the states atty for your county and have him earn his pay and it will not cost anything for his services -- county officials love to prove the state boys wrong!!!
  • Call the labor board. Just pick a dept that seems likely. They will redirect you to the proper dept. You are going to have to provide a copy of your bank statement showing the amount deposited. I would send a certified letter with a copy of your bank statement and demand that they provide proof they sent the overpayment.
  • have you sent them a copy of your bank statement showing you didn't receive the deposit also have you talked to someone on the phone instead of letters and the last thing if you have done all those have you talked to lawyer about filing a harassment suit
  • You are absolutely wrong. The time of payment can be whenever the employer sets it as. They must post when, where and what time checks may be picked up. If the normal payday falls on a weekend or holiday the employer does not have to issue checks early; they may wait until the next normal business day to issue the checks. Many employers as a matter of policy will issue checks early, but they do so out of the goodness of their heart not because they have to.
  • Yes you are correct or the day after
  • i have no idea.
  • It's all on commission. If you don't sell any houses, you don't get anything. Some agencies pay a stipend, but it's not much. If and when you do sell a home, the real estate agency gets 3%(or 2%, it's negotiable), but the agent doesn't get all of that. The agent may wind up with 1.5% or so. On a $500,000 house though, that's a pretty good payday.
  • http://lawzilla.com/content/ca-emp-005.s...Quick Summary When an employee's final paycheck must be paid depends upon whether the employee was terminated or they quit, and if they quit, when they provided notice of their intention. Failure to pay an employee's final wages when due can subject the employer to various penalties. Law Review When the Employer Terminates the Employee If the employment relationship ends because the employer terminates the employee, lays them off, or otherwise lets them go, the employee's final paycheck must be provided to them on their last day of work. (Labor Code § 201.) The employer is subject to various penalties if it waits until the next regularly scheduled payday to pay the employee their final wages. (Labor Code § 203.) When the Employee Quits If the employee voluntarily quits, and provides at least 72 hours notice, their final paycheck is due on their last day of work. If the employee voluntarily quits and provides less than 72 hours notice, the final paycheck is due not later than 72 hours after notice is provided. Additionally, the employee can request that their final paycheck be mailed to them, and the mailing must occur within the 72 hour period. (Labor Code § 202.) What Must be Paid All earned wages and accrued but unpaid vacation time must be paid to the employee. Expenses, however, do not need to be reimbursed until the normal time for reimbursement occurs. • At 17, you're almost an adult. Start acting like one. If you don't have a job, get one as soon as possible. Save every dime you can. Make a list of the things that your mother currently pays for for you. Include rent, food, clothing, electricity, water, insurance, phone, wifi, etc., etc. Research current rent prices, as well as all the other expenses of living on your own. I assume you'll need a car, along with its expenses like gas, repairs, insurance. Open a savings account with your first paycheck, and put as much as possible in the account each payday. Don't throw your money away on new clothes, movies or entertainment; you need that money to get you out of your intolerable situation. And you'd probably better postpone college - you'll need to work fulltime to live on your own. Maybe you could take night classes or something. As for "running away", that's for pouting little kids, not 17-yr-olds. And, as you well know, suicide is a stupid permanent solution to a temporary problem. Sit down with your mom and discuss your plan for the future. Convince her that you really are mature enough to plan your future, and are serious about getting a job and becoming a responsible adult. As for becoming emancipated at 17, you have to prove that you have a place to live, and can totally support yourself, so as not to become a burden on taxpayers. You also might think about what your mom yells at you for, and see if you can change whatever it is she yells about. Good luck! We were all 17 once! Sometimes you just have to tough it out!
  • You can apply for emancipation, but by the time you get the papers filed, you'll be 18 and can legally move out on your own. So basically, just count the days until you can move out. Start making preparations now though. Get a job lined up, start looking for a place to live, etc.
  • in California if you quit without notice you must be paid within 72 hours........ they can NOT hold your check for any reason. you are NOT obligated to sign, show your ex-employer this link and politely explain that if they continue to refuse to pay you that you will contact the state and file a complaint. http://www.dir.ca.gov/dlse/FAQ_Paydays.h...
  • It may have something to do with her responsibilities after you have left. Generally, if you quit, you are not eligible for unemployment benefits; if you are fired, you are eligible.

  • Generally, in CA, employers are not required to offer you sick pay or vacation, but if they do they may have to pay it to you when you leave the company. It depends on the specific terms of the company's policy. Contact the state wage and hour board for information about how to make a claim for payment.
  • For one, being fired and laid off is two different things. Depending on if you were fired or laid off, may depend on what you are entitled to. It appears that you MAY only be entitled to vacation.
  • Only if you worked the full year to get the vacation pay, of which they should've cut you a cheque. The sick leave seldom is allowable for such.
  • No, you are only entitled to them if you work for them. Since you were fired they no longer apply
  • No, you are no longer employed there. Get another job.

I have way too much time on my hands and i need a job to help pay for bills and stuff. I want to major in the medical field so im trying to get my foot in the door into like a doctors office or a nearby hospital as a receptionist or something while im going to college. help? or advice?

  • i had surgery in december 2008 to remove a tumor that was cancerous. i was employed at the time this occurred but on disability so my insurance covered some of the expenses. total deductible to come out my pocket was $1200. i was unable to pay this in full due to only recieveing $300 every two weeks from disability. i asked the doctors office if a payment plan was available they agreed to me paying at least $50 a month. i wanted to return back to work beginning of February 09 so i returned to see the doctor and ask him for a return to work release form which he stated he would not be able to provide me with unless my balance was taken care of. to make this short i explained to him that i was unable to do that until i returned to work. he stated that i would have to post date a check for my next payday. i agreed because i was in need to go back to work financially. He provides me with the release to work form, i give him a post dated check and i return to work the following monday. Wednesday of that same week i am laid off due to my job position being terminated. I called the doctors office to explain what happen and that my check was not going to be good for the reason that i got laid off and if it was possible for me to continue my payment plan. office manager agrees and conversation was complete. one March 1st i received a collections notice from a collections agency for the amount i owed the doctors office. Heres my question: the collection notice came in my husbands name. no where on the notice did it state my name on the bill. i contacted them trying to advise they had a error for using his name and if they would be able to put it in my name as i am the patient the male on the phone stated now that im married they can chose name they want to put it in and it would be e whos asier for them to put it in my husbands name because they know i wouldn't was to add negativity to his credit. IS THIS LEGAL??? PLEASE HELP!
  • When you were signing all the papers before surgery etc, there is a place where they have you fill in who is the *RESPONSIBLE* party. If you put his name in that box, they can come after him.
  • You need to find the first binding contract you had with them. You need to have a physical piece of paper in your hands that states exactly what your obligations are too the loan.
  • Come pay day, i get told i do not have a check ready because they didnt turn in my time sheet on time. Ok, so i said fine, then next pay day which is next friday, the 13th i believe. so im suppose to get 2 checks that day. Now i get a phone call saying that they misplaced my W4 papers so thats why they didnt pay me last time but that now i need to re fill out all of my paper work so i can get a check and that more than likely the time sheet i filled out for my hours of the friday13th check will not count and i will not get a check but that the nexy payday i will get 3 checks... Is this legal? what can i do about it... Im working through Worknet.. it is a non profit gov organization... HELP!
  • it does not sound legal I would call the department of labor and ask it sounds like they are just giving you the run around nobody can afford to work and not get paid good luck
  • It is barely legal. File written notice to Worknet of your problems with getting paid from this employer. Also, give your employer a written demand for payment on the next pay date (the one after the 13th), when you file your new paperwork with them. Keep a copy of it for your own records.
  • does not sound legal or ethical to me. contact dept of labor to see what you should do. dept of weights and measure use to take care of paycheck issues in the past, but I'm unsure as to what to do now.

REGARDLESS IF IT IS A HOLIDAY OR WEEKEND IM WORKING. THE DISPATCHING CENTER IS OPEN 24 HOURS 7 DAYS A WEEK. I AM AWARE THAT THEY HAVE 72 HOURS TO HAVE MY CHECK SINCE I DID NOT GIVE PRIOR NOTICE. TODAY, JULY 4TH, I CALLED THE OTHER SHIFT SUPERVISOR TO SEE WHEN MY CHECK WILL BE READY FOR PICK UP AND ALSO WHEN I CAN COME IN TO RETURN THEIR PROPERTY AS WELL AS PICK UP MY BELONGINGS. PAYDAY WAS SCHEDULED FOR TODAY. THE SUPERVISOR CHECKED TO SEE IF MY PAY WAS WITH THE OTHERS BUT HE SAID IT WAS NOT. HE ALSO TOLD ME TO CALL BACK ON MONDAY TO SPEAK WITH THE ASSISTANT OPERATIONS MANAGER ABOUT IT. WHEN I MENTIONED THE 72 HOURS HE SAID IT WAS FOR BUSINESS DAYS ONLY. IS THAT TRUE? MONDAY IS GONNA BE PASS MY 72 HOURS SO WHAT DO I DO. THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP!

  • That is impossible to know without a complete audit of his inventory and certified books of more than 24 months. If he is serious about selling this business, and you will serious about buying it, then he will need to let someone do a complete analysis of his business... Only then will you know the exact worth of the business... In short... From what you put, I rather doubt it is worth even close to $280K, but without analyzing his books, it would be a fools game to guess...
  • A notice was sent out to the office stating that the employer would no longer honor hours worked if the time clock did not pick up hours (i.e. forgetting to punch in or out). If i knew and my immediate boss knew i was in the office during my regular work hours, can the owner refuse to pay for those hours because I forgot to punch in or out those days?
  • You might find your answer here: http://www.dir.ca.gov/dlse/PayDays.pdfI haven't enough experience of California law to offer an opinion, and I am not licensed there.
  • i've had to tell people that just because i didn't go along with what everyone else was doing didn't make me antisocial. it made me smart enough to know that jumping off some bridge because of peer pressure wasn't something i choose to do. it was at times very hard to explain to other teenagers this point and i often wondered how far some of them would go to fit a mold that wasn't meant for them. the only times i have had cause for violence was when i needed to protect myself and/or others. i have found that words can diffuse many situations where a fist would only escalate them. not that i didn't find myself in situations were words were useless but it was rare.
  • You would have to prove you were there. Without the timeclock they probably not have to pay you, but I'm not sure.
  • Come back on regular payday or the check will be mailed to you.*
  • Look through the New Jersey Revised Code or call a lawyer. Because they are supposed to send you what you made until you got fired.
  • They can send it to you later. If you steal anything on the way out, they can deduct money for that.
  • She's probably out of luck if she's waited this long to decide that something's wrong that would necessitate demanding something from the employer. Sounds like she's fishing for a payday.
  • If she fell and injured herself at work, she is obligated to inform her employer immediately. That is the law!
  • If you have any falls or injuries at work they should be reported ASAP in case they escalate to something more serious down the road. Did she report her injury in the workplace ?
  • if it's her employer it could be a problem, since she probably signed a contract saying that they're not held responsible for injuries. sorry.
  • If you are being stationed in Yokota or Yokosuka, Japan then being single you will live in barracks so you won't have to worry about the cost of lodging/rent. You do have a full Commissary and Exchange there that is around the same prices as in the US so not much more there. There is other base facilities such as a movie theater, pool, gym, bowling, etc... so lots of things to do. You will get OCONUS COLA and that can more than make up for the extra expenses of being in Japan as long as you budget yourself wisely and don't go out and buy/spend everything. For example a E1 with less than 2 years in and living in barracks is going to get $247 extra a payday for COLA. It should be enough to make the difference.
  • it is extremely expensive to live on the Kanto Plain and the COLA and exchange rate are not very good right now so that makes it even more expensive. the average off base unit will run about $2000US for a SMALL one bedroom efficiency. Fresh fruits and veggies run about twice as expensive as CONUS and Milk.. well let's just say milk was a Luxury that we could not afford very often. Gallons ran easily $5 and $6. Gas is cheaper.
  • yes! Tokyo is the most expensive city on earth for those reelocating. 2nd is Osaka Japan, so expect anywhere in the Kanto region to have that high of a rating.
  • you get a COLA if you're stationed where there is a high cost of living...
  • Here is the situation: I was suspended on a Tuesday. My district manager sent an email on Friday to all of her stores with my personal information, ie. termination date(dated for Friday), reason and final pay information. I was never officially told and have not received my final pay (it is now Sunday). Do I get paid for my days on suspension? Can I report the company for not providing final pay although I was never told I was fired (I have proof of effective date of termination)?
  • Your question is a tad vague on specifics, but California labor law tends to be pretty employee friendly. With some exceptions, you must be paid at the time of termination (http://www.dir.ca.gov/dlse/FAQ_Paydays.h... Since you did not work while suspended, you can't be paid for those days.
  • YES................... In the event the commissions have been "earned" on or before the date of your termination, the employer must complete the necessary calculations and pay the commissions on the date of the termination in the case of a discharge or a voluntary quit with more than 72 hours prior notice, or within 72 hours of the termination of the employment relationship in the case of a voluntary quit without such prior notice. It is not permissible for the employer to wait until the customary time for calculating the commissions of current employees, nor is it permissible to delay payment of such earned commissions until the next regularly scheduled payday. If the commission has not yet been earned at the time of termination and is awaiting the completion of some legal condition precedent, for example, receipt of the customer's payment, the commission must be paid to you immediately upon completion of the condition precedent. http://www.dir.ca.gov/dlse/FAQ_Paydays.h...
  • definately. however i would right down the sales you made and for how much the customer name the date and the amount. then follow that up with your commission cheque if something missing you go back to your old place of work and show them these are the dates and this is what you sold. its sad to say but many company will try to act dumb and say they don't show this on there sheets you need to be prepared
  • This is one of those times where you would need to read the contract you signed when you became employed by your sales job. If it doesn't state anything one way or another about those commissions, then they would be considered payable to you.
  • Probably not. I have had a lot of sales jobs, and I never got paid for any commissions when I quit.
  • When are the commissions earned? When the deal is signed, or when the equipment is installed, or when the money has been collected. You should get paid for anything that is earned... however, if you signed a deal, but quit before it was installed or funded, you might not get paid for it.
  • I don't believe there's an actual law for this, although I might be wrong. It should be spelled out in the contract you signed when you joined the company. Try contacting human resources if you're serious about quitting.
  • You should but chances are you won.t.
  • I would look in the pennysaver. They sometimes have coupons or ads for lower rates for first time customers.I would estimate about $80 for the exam and the shot. For the future when you just need more shots, there are lots of vets and pet stores that do "shot clinics" where you just go during certain hours and get shots at discounted prices.
  • You should google some vets near your area write down the numbers then call many different ones for estimates. Most likely it's it $40 - $50 just for the first visit + shots The walgreens in Alhambra ca now has vet low cost vaccines look into it. First do your estimates then decide.
  • Most vets seem to pull their prices out their asses for no real reason. I would call around and see what the prices are like in your specific area.
  • probationary period so they did not need to give "cause" for firing.....my question is: I have heard that when one is fired the final paycheck is due that day........I was not paid until 2 weeks after (on my normal payday)........the final paycheck did pay me for the whole month (though I was fired halfway through the month).......is there any recourse for me for not getting my final paycheck on the date I was fired? What can I do? thanks
  • you can push this and not get anything out of it except knowing that you pissed off the school system and won't ever be considered for employment again... in CA they are required to pay you immediately when terminated BUT the most you could hope to get for the penalty is 1 days pay for each day the check is late, up to 30 days (you may not get that much if you have to file to collect) ..... SO you have already been paid the absolute MOST you possibly could hope for.... what you can do and should do are the same.... let it go, move on.
  • 1. On probation and NO reason need be given for firing you. 2. No you don't get the last pay check till the next pay period. 3. No recourse.
  • let it go
  • Yo dawg. we heard you quit your job but you want to get paid. So you can get paid for doing your job while not doing your job.
  • Yes.
  • they usually mail you a check
  • Only so much can be said about Big Brown in this years 2008 Belmont Stakes .In 1999 a horse that had failed miserably at Santa Anita showed up in the Lexington Stakes, won that race, and then went on to win both the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness Stakes. The horse’s name was Charismatic and the horse’s trainer was D.Wayne Lukas. Todd Pletcher, Lukas’s protĂ©gĂ©, didn’t win the 2008 Kentucky Derby or the 2008 Preakness Stakes with this year’s Lexington winner, Behindatthebar, but he will be trying to win the 2008 Belmont Stakes with his Lexington Stakes’ winner. Even though Big Brown is heavily favored to win this years Belmont Stakes race. Behindatthebar, a son of Forest Wildcat and the Runaway Groom mare, Rhianna, will be trying to win the Belmont Stakes after a lay-off of more then seven weeks. Usually, that’s a bad sign but Behindatthebar scratched out of the Kentucky Derby. To me, that means that Pletcher was no doubt thinking about the Belmont when Big Brown crossed the finish line first on May 5th. There’s no reason to doubt Pletcher’s ability to get Behindatthebar ready for the 1 ½ mile test. A bigger question is whether or not, no matter how good Behindatthebar is prepared for the Belmont Stakes, any horse can actually beat Big Brown. But that question is valid for every horse in the Belmont not just Behindatthebar. I actually like Behindatthebar’s chances. First, the only time this horse ran on conventional dirt was in the Grade III El Camino Real Derby at Bay Meadows. That was also Todd Pletcher’s first race with the horse. Before that Behindatthebar had been under the care of Southern California trainer Craig Dollase. Second, Behindatthebar won his next two races, after Pletcher got a chance to sink his claws into the horse, by nice margins. The horse won an allowance race by 4 Âľ lengths at Santa Anita and then the Lexington Stakes by 5 Âľ lengths. Finally, Behinhatthebar will come into this race a different horse. It will be his third lifetime race under Todd Pletcher’s care. That means that he should improve dramatically from his Lexington Stake’s score. An improving horse going from an artificial surface to dirt should never be ignored if that horse is bred to like the dirt. That’s what we’ve got here with Behindatthebar. Being out of Forest Wildcat, he could be the horse that tracks right behind the expected two front-runners in this year’s Belmont Stakes, Casino Drive and Big Brown, which means Behindatthebar might be in the best position at the top of the stretch in the 2008 Belmont Stakes. His current BoDog online racebook odds are 28 to 1. That would make him the sixth choice in a field of roughly eight to ten horses in the 2008 Belmont Stakes. The odds are actually overlaid. Because Behindatthebar has only one dirt race to his credit, and it was before he got a chance to work with him, no horseplayer really can say how good he is. He could be an upset special come the Belmont Stakes, burying Big Brown’s chances to win the Triple Crown.
  • Behindatthebar maybe can pull of the upset. He won the Coolmore Lexington Stakes at Keeneland, which is Polytrack and 1 1/16 miles. He has raced all of his life on Polytrack, except in the El Camino Real Derby on a dirt track, in which he came in fifth. The only advantage is that he has had a lot of rest in between the Coolmore and the Belmont. In the end, I think it will be Big Brown to pull off and win the Belmont Stakes.
  • I'm not betting on Behindatthebar. His only start on dirt was his worse race, he didn't even hit the board. His pedigree has a sprinter on top and the dam side is known for producing turf horses which might explain why he's done better on poly than dirt. His trainer's Triple Crown race record is about 1 for 31 and his Belmont record is 1 for 7. I realize Pletcher has an otherwise outstanding record, but his Triple Crown record is too bad to ignore. His only Triple Crown win was with Rags To Riches and she had excellent breeding for the Belmont.
  • I think Behindatthebar belongs on the synthetics. Todd Pletcher before the Derby said he thought the horse belonged on the synthetics and I thought that had something to do with their choice to pass on the Derby... but then they're aiming for the dirt anyway. I think this horse will end up like Monba... last, 40 lengths behind at the finish.

  • I agree and applaud the commission and hope for a rematch ASAP. Dawson clearly threw down Hopkins and he was not able to continue. If Dawson thinks he's that good, then take the payday and meet again. He may KO Hopkins or lose on a decision. Either way, IMO, it's the best thing for boxing.
  • I agree with the decision, Dawson floored Hopkins with a body slam. This is boxing, not wrestling.
  • Justice served. It doesn't even have to reach this far to make that decision. The referee and the judges should rule it a "no decision" right after it happened. I hope both will agree to fight it over again.
  • FOOTWORK gets the best answer!
  • If i worked for this company for close to 8 months and one day for what ever reason i never get scheduled and get laid off without no notice or even fired without no notice. and then my next step was to go to the california department of industrial relations for withholding my check and actually win a settlement at the meeting with the investigator. the check that was supposed to have been given to me at time of last work payday was about 600-700 for the 2 weeks i worked and then the settlement was for 1000. and this is my question now i have to do my taxes but i called the establishment and to them they don't want to give me the w2's that belong to me to do my taxes. what are my options and how do i get those w2's or who do i go and complaint this to?
  • If you don't have them next Tuesday, call the IRS and lodge a formal complaint. They won't take missing W-2 complaints until then.
  • By law w2's have to be postmarked no later than Jan. 31st. In the case of a 1099 (contractors that pay own taxes get these) they have until Feb. 15th. I would call a tax preparer and ask them. I know last year my husband didn't receive one of his w'2s and the company was held responsible because it wasn't postmarked by specific time.
  • I know it is a result of the tough times and economic crises, but do employers realize how hard it is for families to survive? The prices at grocery stores, vehicle registration fees, utilities, and so on are all rising, but our wages stay the same. Even my Employer put a freeze on our wages. Even when we did get raises in the past it was still not keeping up with the cost of things. The Government is helping these bankers, insurance companies and so forth but where is the relief for the middle class? They say we soon will get 14 dollars more per payday but is that enough to help you? I also hear that because of Prop 13 in California they have to get a 2/3's vote in order to raise taxes. But they are going to reword it in May or June of this year as a "Fee" and not need 2/3's vote, and just raise our taxes. It is just getting worse for all of us. The government I know is having problems but why make it harder for us to live. What are your thoughts on this? Do you think it will get any better, or will we all be living in huts and living on rice?
  • You have a clear view of what is happening. Welcome to the world with me. $14 bucks isn't going very far in my household. I have nothing left to cut and I am raising a garden to help with the groceries. I check is shrinking and the bills are rising. It is pretty ugly. Our pay raises are frozen as well.
  • The question you have raised is correct and we all have to face the same problem. Sometimes I do wonder that all the unions struggle for wage rise but nobody raise their voice that we do not want a rise in wage but provide all the necessary objects at a stable rate. The rate of groceries should not be increased in any case.
  • It's the downswing following a deregulation-fueled fake economic boom. It happened after Nixon and it's started long before Bush was out of office. Like clockwork. Employment is now the lowest it's been since 1983 - during Reagan's term which was also a disaster despite all the propoganda.
  • I thnk the average American will have to do with a whole lot less *bling bling* and exciting trips to all over the world The price of food will of course go up with all the other comodities American's have been living high on the hog for too long and now it is time to see how the poor live~~welcome to the Walmart and Big Lots Society~~have a garage sale?
  • That is a major problem. Democrats have been pushing for the rise of wages to index inflation for years, how ever Republicans in congress voted AGAINST THIS EVERY SINGLE TIME. But now the economy is so bad, wages can't be raised. If wages were to be raised, people will get laid off and let go to make up for the difference.
  • What you are experiencing is the insidious side of inflation. Inflation is a hidden tax, the government destroying the value of existing money by creating new money. The difference between what you used to pay and what you pay now is a tax. Your employer can't pay you more, because your employer is just as much a victim of this tax as you are. If you don't like this set of circumstances I have bad news for you, it is going to get worse.
  • It will get worse but it will turn around and be back to normal in a year or 2 but yeah it is inflation. That is absolutley correct and it is just a matter of time before our whole monetary system collapses. May not be our grandchildren or great grand children but it's only a matter of time.
  • Times are getting tough and things will get tougher until the people of this country get a belly full and vote ALL morons out of office.
  • I don't believe the recession will be temporary -- it will be the new norm. Everyone one is comparing it to the the 70's but this is much different. Our country is changing at a very rapid pace.
  • I am afraid you are misled. It is not because of any recession or economic crisis. It is because company capitalization is first distributed to company executives, in the form of exhorbitant salaries and bonuses - inexplicably. This held true during growth periods. In Japan, executives earn merely double that of staff. Even in recession, staff level workers save $1,000 a month in Japan. While they have you accustomed and begging for minute 3% annual raises with no bonus and no stock sharing, now you can agree how the rich class enslaves you and constantly rips you off. Keep working for them. I won't.
  • Im trying to get my life back in order to a fresh start I was in a bad relationship I spent over 1200.00 talking to psychics from California psychics, keen, and psychic access!! Me and this guy has broken up my heart is broken but I felt like I've wasted so much time and energy ..I have gear job everything going for myself but I feel like alot of bad energies is around me from talking to psychics...This guy was really bad for me im so glad I got rid of him...I have the urge to call a psychic friday on payday but im trying to get out if this psychic addiction should I cancel all psychic accounts to remove negative energies and began on a fresh start??
  • I'm a psychic. Don't spend your money on the fake guys that make up answers that purposefully can fit a multitude of people. I personally think that you don't need to call a psychic. I don't charge, because no one believes I am one really. But you could e-mail me if you wish. but for now, if you have time. Five minutes a day, just sit calmly in silence. Tv/radio off too! Clear your mind and think of what you have now and what you will have. That'll teach you a few things about yourself you never noticed. Clear your mind and think of all the things, right and wrong about yourself. Like most people, at first you'll only find bad things but eventually, you'll find your right mind and find a great number of good things.
  • Put you money in Psychologists instead of Psychics.

  • I'm starting college and am getting The Money Book for the Young, Fabulous and Broke by Suze Orman. My mom is single and has a decent income, a bit over 100,000 annually, but I don't think she's doing as well as she could be. She's not using the money correctly, and I'd like for her to learn better how to save it and use it. I mean, she used up her retirement money to improve our house to sell it. She's looking for an apartment to rent. We, at the moment, are renting a house and before that owned one. A few times this year, we didn't have any money a week before her payday. So, any great books?
  • check out any of Dave Ramsey's books. He has a website, and is on the radio as well. He does write from a Christian perspective, I'm just giving you a heads up in case you have a problem with this.
  • For budgeting, Dave Ramsey has some great books. You can find them at daveramsey.com. He also has a free podcast which is helpful. The Richest Man in Babylon is a good one as mentioned, but also the Wealthy Barber. And, I always like the Millionaire Next Door. For investing, I would look at the Motley Fool books. As disclosure, I use to work there, but I worked there because they taught me about investing. Their books are written with a humorous tone and easily digestible to even a beginner.
  • Your mom is doing something wrong. 100K is a lot of $. First of all she should have gotten a 2nd mortgage to pay for the home improvements plus it would be tax deductible. I love Suze Orman , That book would be perfect for you, she does have books for your mom, you better read them in case she doesn't , then you can help her. Best of luck
  • The Richest Man in Babylon is the absolute best book ever written on personal finances
  • I had to take a day off for a dental appointment. I cannot use any of my sick hours unless it's more than one day. My appointment was to have a decayed wisdom tooth removed. I went to work, as normal, the day after and made it through my whole shift, even though it was painful at times since my job requires me to talk constantly. Since I couldn't use sick hours, I used 8 of my vacation hours to cover the day I had lost. To give a little more insight, I'm an assistant manager and made my boss well aware of my appointment ahead of time and covered my shift accordingly. He OK'ed it and I sent it my time off request. Now here's payday and my district manager denied my hours, no reason given. Now I'm in a bind because I had to do something that was absolutely necessary to my health. The day that I wasn't there went smoothly, no problems. This district manager is new to my area and is a major penny pincher. I don't request time off regularly, even going as far as two years without a vacation before my boss forced me to take one. This is all in California by the way. Can the district manager deny me my hours even though I covered the shift and returned to work as normal the very next day, even though my dentist suggested I take a couple days off?
  • Edit: In response to user 'me'... I can see where you're coming from, but seeing as how I do all the scheduling in my store, I made sure my shift was covered. It's not like I called in the day of. But after seeing some of the answers here, it looks like there's nothing I can do about it. This district manager doesn't even want to hear about anybody wanting a vacation, so now I'm wondering why we even have these hours now.
  • they employer can offer you sick time and vacation but there is nothing that says he has to let you use, slimy, unethical, unprofessional but not illegal
  • No employer is required to use your vacation hours to cover an absence (justified or not) unless you have a contract stating the contrary. Can the district manager revoke a lower-rank manager's order? Yes, he can. And you didn't covered the shift since you weren't physically present to get it "covered", some other employee covered the shift and was paid to do so. You can't demand to be compensated for the work done by someone else.
  • No since you put in for the hours which were approved.
  • I work at Chuck E Cheese in California. I wanted to pick up my paycheck yesterday after my shift but they were too busy. Does that mean they denied me my paycheck? Today when I went in to pick it up there were two managers on duty, and it was a little busy but not busy enough to make me wait 45 minutes. The first 10 minutes I understood that they had customers waiting on their food. Then she decides to dance with Chuck E and the party host for the birthday show, then bus tables, and finally do the salad bar. People only do that when there is nothing else to do. This manager constantly harasses me; she waits for me to make a mistake to call me out. Another thing I hate is that I have been working here for about a year and they have not trained me to do new things, but all of these new people start and they know more than me. Can they do all of this? I know this stuff is not serious, but I just want my manager to back off and stop talking down to me. They show me no respect.
  • Your paycheck must be made available to you at the start of the business day on the normal payday that it's available to anyone else. It only takes a moment, and there is no work SO pressing that they can't find time. The only exceptions would be for life-threatening emergencies, and even that would only last until the emergency was over. Someone is playing games that can get the company massively fined under the wage and labor laws of both federal and state agencies. Let Human Resources or someone further up the management scale know about the paycheck issue. They don't need a low level manager costing them thousands of dollars. As for training you, and the other items, it's not right but it happens and there is little you can do about it. That's why people often quit and work somewhere else. Still, with the paycheck issue, it may affect the manager enough to resolve some of the other details, as well. Remember, though, the squeaky wheel doesn't always get the grease. Sometimes it just gets replaced.
  • There are statutes about how quickly you must be paid after services. I'm sure that they didn't violate that. The other issue is the hostile work environment. It will never get better if that is your situation. This is a low pay job. You can probably find a job with a better work environment. Start looking and put up with it until you get another job. Just knowing that something better is on the horizon will give you the strength to endure.
  • Report them to wage and labor. Try to contact human resources first. Let your manager know how u feel.
  • call the cops and document a record. Then circulate to The exertions branch on your area and clarify your venture. Then attempt to locate a loose criminal provider (in case you could no longer arise with the funds for an lawyer), and threaten to sue. In cases like immediately, employers can no longer arise with the funds for to screw around with human beings's funds while lots expenses could be paid. My factor? Make noise. Make it loud and clean that slavery ended generations in the past and final time you checked, you probably did no longer stroll into your job with a chain placed around your neck. solid success.
  • Well just go in and say you need your check and don't leave until they give it to you. If you want more responsibility then ask. They can't read your mind.
  • Why do you want to work for her? You have experience now, look somewhere else.
  • Report it to human resources. It is illegal to hold your check.
  • I'm at will employe and I'm giving my employer 2 weeks notice that I'm leaving, He says that he just signed a contract with some client and had to put my name on that contract ( I did not sign anything ). I don't have any timed based contract that I've signed nor do I have signed any penalties for leaving papers etc... Can he sue me for quitting ? I'm in the state PA.
  • The offer that I've signed with this employer says the following : "Company A wishes to offer you employment as an Engineer beginning October 1 2010 and extending no longer than September 30, 2013." That's it, there is no clause about termination at all or some sort of penalties for leaving before September 2013. I'm not sure if this is an at-will offer or is it a timed based contract.
  • an employer can NOT sue an "at-will" employee for not giving or working out a notice... an employer can NOT withhold a paycheck for hours worked, they do NOT have to pay for time that was not worked..... 2 weeks is 2 weeks regardless of what time of the year it is, the only relevance to this is if you do not actually work during that time, and then that is a matter of how many of the days you must be paid for not that it is less than 14 days...... EDIT: breaching a contract is a separate issue from withholding of wages... unless there was a specific clause that addressed the issue they MUST pay you for the time you actually worked, they would have to address the contract breach separately... nothing in this contract changes anything, all you signed was an employment offer that set a limit on how long there may be a job, it does not deal with compensation, or separation in any way.. if this is what they (or you) are calling a contract it s NOT, based on what you have here you are still an at-will employee, in this understanding/agreement/contract you made no promise to stay, and they made no promise to keep you.... they MUST pay you what is owed by the regular payday for the last pay-period you worked; since you gave a notice, in a few states, they must pay you sooner (as early as the last day you work in California)
  • You didn't sign anything. Tell that employer that you will see him in court. A judge will throw this out. Do not expect your last paycheck though. In fact, do not expect any more pay. Suggestion: Just leave. Note: If I did not know I was involved in a contract I would honestly start calling lawyer. That has to be somehow illegal.
  • in case you have a freelance you signed this could govern the expertise era - even nevertheless frankly at my place the place we do have this in our contracts they do no longer seem to be accompanied and commonly 2 weeks is the prepare - because of the fact taking somebody to courtroom on that's costly, time ingesting and counter efficient. It commonly takes years to get something minor to civil courtroom i individually could bypass away after 2 weeks and not seem lower back (word you will no longer get a sturdy reference, yet could in all risk no longer anyhow). i could rfile the artwork place subject concerns as defined above on your archives. another piece of recommendation - once you bypass away end All communications mutually with your boss or any of your co-workers.
  • You can sue for any reason now will he win, probably not.
  • My sister and I haven't had the best relationship through out our lives, she is 28 and I am 23. Two years ago my dad was diagnosed with Stage 4 Brain cancer. At this time I moved from Texas to Colorado to be with him. My sister moved from California to be with him. At this time she had not spoken to my dad in about 4 or 5 years. I had not spoken to my sister for 4 months. The reason for my sister and I not talking? I told her to grow up because she was always broke and asking my mom (who's a single teacher in Texas) for money. While she used a bank account joint with my mothers, she was spending $50- 100 a week at bars. While my mom was providing for her with rent, car, insurance, and spending money. My sister indeeds has a drinking problem, she knows she does. And wont quit. And supposedly she is allergic to beer so only drinks vodka. Anyway, we move in together to save on the rent of an apartment. Months past as we all were there for my dad during his battle. End of this past July (about a month before my dad passes away) while I was looking for something in her room, I came to a suspicious Tiffany's box. I opened it up. Three little baggy's with a white powdery substance left over and a miniature straw. I never done it, but I grew up in a Mexican border town and do know what it is. I didn't want to tell our mother yet. So I approached my sister about it. She told me she has only done it twice in her life. Told her I didn't want that stuff in my apartment (as I'm the only lease holder and she hadn't payed her half of the rent). Also told her if I found out she was doing it still I was going to kick her out. I talked to some of her old friends that I still hang around with as they told me thats why they don't talk to my sister anymore... coke and drinking. Anyway, I haven't found any hard evidence, but I read a text (done on her payday) saying "Have any?" the reply said "Yep. brwdwy." Her: "k. meet you there." This gives me reason to believe she is still doing it. What should I do??????? Tell my mother so we can try to get her help? My sister graduated high school in 2000 and has not gone to college. I believe she is still in her party mode of life and wont snap out of it till we let her hit rock bottom. Please help!! I am concerned about her, but also angry as she has taken advantage of my mom so much and so long.
  • u know what to do/ be strong/save her/shut het out and get help /the only other option is denile
  • Some people find it harder to get out of the habit of drugs and drink. Best thing you can do for her is call the police on her and have her arrested for possession. You seriously do not want to live with her, if she has drugs in the house and if she is hanging out with dodgy people.
  • Mkay so I really want a job. I have good grades, lowest is a C. But I'm gunna for sure gunna get better grades this second semester. I live In California. Like around San Bernardino. Inland Empire I think it's called where I live? Haha. How embarrassing, I don't even know. Anyways, I've heard that fast food places hire at 14! Like McDonalds (I don't want to work there though haha), Burger King, and Wendy's, and KFC. Is this true? I know that at 14, you can only do so many hours of work. And that's fine with me. How do I go about getting a job at those places? Are there any other places that hire 14 year olds? Any personal experiences you want to share? Any info is greatly appreciated!
  • Here's a short list of jobs in the U.S. which you can create to generate income: 1. Learn calligraphy so that you can provide handwritten invitations and thank you notes to prospective wedding parties, birthday celebrations, etc. Seek out clients through wedding planners at nearby churches and temples. A starter calligraphy kit usually runs around $20 and anyone can easily pick up this skill. The going rate is usually $1 per hand addressed item. 2. Seek from your neighbors a gardner position which involves planting, weed removal, plant/tree trimming, light brush clearance. You will be using the neighbor's equipment and tools. Again, do not represent yourself as a lawn mower since there are any number of safety issues involved. A door-to-door solicitation of surrounding neighbors is required and you can charge between $6 to $9 per hour. 3. Offer policing/removal or clearance of trash services to surrounding neighbors which involve trash pickup within nearby residential area. Limit the extent of pickup to small areas and be aware that there are no hazardous terrain or elements involved in this process. Again, a door-to-door solicitation of neighbors is in order. You can charge between $6.75 to $7.50 per hour. 4. Acquire a set of window cleaning tools [a bucket, liquid window cleaner, sponge, squeegee, handle with an extension and a small step ladder] and solicit local businesses for your window cleaning services. However, be careful to limit the height of the window cleaning to no higher than one story. Charge $1 per window panel. 5. Visit your nearest beauty salon and ask to be trained as a shampoo person who is also willing to sweep up fallen hair on the ground and do set ups [arranging dye kits, curler holders, etc.] for a set hourly fee. 6. Become a sign flipper by contacting your nearest realtor. A flipper is someone who stands at a major intersection and flips a "For Lease/Rental" sign in order to attract visitors to an open house or to a particular real estate listing. The hourly pay is at least the minimum wage. 7. Why not become a paid feeder servicing the disabled at nearby nursing, convalescent, assisted living/care centers and hospitals. It involves feeding food to patients who are unable to feed themselves. The starting rate is $8.00 per hour. The only downside is that one has to take precautions to wash one's hands after each feeding. A posting of your services [by a business card or flyer] on a reviewable bulletin board would be enough to generate customers. The paid feeder position is one of the fastest growing occupation at this time. Good luck!

  • Hi! My sons father currently gives me money for my son & his necessities once a month (a little more than 200 dollars to be exact). It is not court ordered. I have tried to talk to him severeal times about increasing the amount a little bit. He pays me the BAH differential that he gets for having our son listed as his dependent. He does receive Tricare. There's is no reason why paternity should come into question cause his name is on the birth certificate & the id my son has. His father is a lance corpral in the marine coprs stationed in california. I know that he is able to give a little more for his son. If I am just barely & I do mean barely getting by on my low pay I know he can provide a little more money for his child. Once again the money he sends does not even affect his payday. As soon as I get my checks they are gone to things that my sons needs (transportation, daycare, diapers, wipes, clothes, food, etc.) How much would he have to pay if I were to officially file instead of just accepting the 200 bucks my son gets ONCE a month.
  • I am not on welfare, and I do not lie to the government. I don't even receive food stamps. That's a ignorant thing to stereotype someone through a question. While I am grateful for the money that I do receive it just does not stretch. If you had read my question you would see that I never stated anything about the money being mine. & Iam not new to the military lifestyle, my father has been in for 23 years as well as my mom who is retired now. While I understand that protection should have been used...the situation is now & present. Not my past. I know that I have to go to a family court or our local child support office, I know that I cannot just go to his command or whoever else people say. I have been told that it would be around 500 as well, however i. Do not use the money on me. I have not even baught myself anything in almost a year! I work with kids all day so please don't imply I flip burgers or work at a little gig. Unfortunately the childcare business does not off
  • @Ralph...it seems your didn't read all of my question or additional details. I'm not looking to get rich. Lord knows I know that man is not rich. If I was trying to get rich I would have aimed higher. I'm not trying to make this man pay or hurt him. Truth be told I just think he willfully gave me the 230 to keep me from filing. However, jobs are very hard to get in our town. Good paying ones anyways, I have been trying to get a high paying here for 2 yrs and have just now began to climb up. Keep in mind there ARE jobs...but that doesn't mean they all pay a lot and are just accepting people left & right & at a fast pace. But thank you for your answer!
  • it would go based on his pay, and Lcpl's don't make that much. chances are you won't get much more than you already are. guess you better find a higher paying job since he is proving money and benefits.
  • Being a father is not a crime. Child support will not make you rich, nor will it hurt him. If the guy does not have much that's all there is to it. He is giving more than most. You Have what you need. If you want more get up off your (the animal that Jesus rode on) and get a better job. In the future, if you want to get rich from child support check the man's bank balance before you get on your back.
  • Alotted
  • You have to go thru a civilian court system to get court appointed child support. It will be based on his pay and you will get probably about 500 a month easy. As he goes up in rank you can ask the court to have the payments adjusted to go up. Go talk to a civilian family practice lawyer, the first consultation is free. But you have to do the paperwork this way in order for the military to recognize it.
  • Should have wore that condom, but if you did,no civilian ex would be paying that amount.Your lucky a man even pays now of days.Just wait till he gets out,and won't tell you where he's living,so don't rock the boat!!!
  • Damn he is already giving you most of his Pay... Even if you took him to Family Court... you won't get any more Money that you can waste.... Child Support is just that "Child Support"... It is to cover the Child Only...Not You !!!! It isn't Alimony...which you are NOT entitled to... I will just bet that you are on Welfare and have Not reported his Child Support Payments to them...??? Seen this game played for years...
  • He is giving you all the USMC requires him to give you. If you don't feel that's enough, then take him to court and have a Judge determine whether you deserve more!
  • $ 450.00 is what Im thinking Its should be %33 of base pay. Your getting ripped. I payed my support with plenty left over. Hes taking advantage of you mam!
  • I feel very sorry for you and your situation. I will pray for you. I am sorry that I have no legal experience in this area
  • You'll get more than 500.00. Take him to court.
  • My husband is in the military, and is in another town, where, he works all day, then goes and parties all night, sometimes until 3 AM, with all the people from his boat. It is hard with him being away, since we have a 1 year old baby girl, and I don't work. We only have HIS income, which is not great, let me tell you.. He has spent hundreds of dollars from going out drinking with everyone. I don't know what to do... Now with only a couple hundred bucks until payday..... I don't spend ANY money on myself, and I wanted to save money, so I could fly down and see him this weekend. Now thats not gonna happen.. What do I say>?!>!>!>!>! I am SOOOOOO MAD!!!
  • He is in California, I am in Washington. He can't come home.. Yes, we have talked, but he just can't go spend $20, he has to spend 60 or so just to get drunk. He is NOT a lightweight. Yes, he has told me many times that he drinks because he is stressed out, and it is an alternative to staying on his boat, mopeing. It makes me so mad though. He thinks its ok, since he works all day, he should get to party. WHat about ME?! I am all alone, raising our baby!?!?!
  • no- we won't get divorced because of it. Our marriage is STRONG, and we are completely in love. This is the only real aspect of "troubles" I just don't know how to get it into his head that, yes, he works for all the money, but there is little money now for me to do anything, or get away for a while from our little girl.. military moms know what I am tlking about!!
  • First of all, from everyone I've talked to, one of the toughest jobs in the world is being a military wife. I wish you the very best, regardless of how this particular issue plays out. I can understand you being upset, and you and he need to have a heart to heart talk about the amount of money he is spending and how difficult that is making things for you, trying to maintain a household and raise a child, on what is likely minimal income, even before he goes out with his buddies. You have to remind him that his behavior affects both of you. At the same time, though, keep yourself open to the possibility that the reason he is going out partying at all hours is because that is how he is coping with being separated from you for this long period of time. I would imagine that if he were there with you instead of based out of that other town, he would not be Mr. Party Animal. Again, the most important thing is real communication - actually listening to each other as opposed to just talking to each other. He needs to understand what you're going through, and you need to understand what he is going through, and perhaps together, you can come up with a solution that is workable for both of you.
  • *Yes he is.* .In fact he should be spending his money on your household, and things for you and your daughter. .Not spending it on booze. .In any case here is what I think you need to do: .I think first of all you need to get out in the workforce and get yourself a job, even if it's part time...and doesn't pay that great. .By getting your own job, this will give you some extra cash in your pocket and some money to save. Now I understand you have a child and everything, but trust me...if you talk to the right people and ask the right questions you can get assisted with your childcare while you are at work. .However I do think that you need to confront your husband, and let him know how you are feeling about the current financial situation though. Granted you have to be prepared to hear him tell you: "I work hard for my money, and I will spend it however I damn well please...I put food on the table and pay the rent....etc etc." ....I'm sure you'll get a dose of that speech. .Either way, I think it would be wise for you not to be so dependent on your husband financially and otherwise. Because if something were to ever happen, you are going to be drained in the bank. Which is why I suggested you go and find yourself a part time job...even if the pay isn't A LOT...or whatever you know?! But it would give you some extra cash, and heck you could go have some YOU time and get some things you have wanted for awhile. .Good luck.
  • The fact that y'all (yes, I'm from TX!) have a 1 year old baby is what makes this very important, in my opinion. You need to sit down with him one night and tell him how you feel about his lack of being a father to your daughter and lack of being a wife to you. It is the agreement he made when he married you and as far as I'm concerned, he isn't living up to it. Okay, he brings home the bacon, well he sends it your way, but he isn't fulfilling his duties as your husband. You need a break too!!!!!! He needs to grow up and take responsibility. Otherwise, your just taking care of 2 babies. so yes, he's being a jerk. And him being in the Armed Forces has nothing to do with his actions toward you and your family. So don't let that be an excuse. So I don't get hate mail, I have 101% respect for all the men and women out there that are willing to put their lives on the table for my freedom. America is truly an amazing place, because of that.
  • As one military spouse to another you need to talk to him. Explain to him that going out every night and spending all of this money is not ok. You need money to pay bills and get things for your daughter. Explain that you would also like to put some money away into savings for your future. Living apart makes it even harder. If I were you I would try to see if other living arrangements could be made. Such as the two of you living together if at all possible because that way he won't be as tempted to go out and drink. If that isn't possible then tell him that you want to come and see him but because of his spending you can't. If he doesn't understand this then maybe he isn't ready for all that comes with being married, i.e. settling down and not partying every night, saving money, putting your family before you. There is also the option of you getting a job.
  • Wow, you ought to give up and easily see what your wrote. he's no longer being selfish, he's being open and honest with you. you won't like the respond, yet its does not right now make him selfish. He ought to turn the table on you and say that your being selfish and that your no longer listening to him and all you care approximately is having yet another infant for your self IE: you suggested you opt to have greater teenagers for your self. Having babies is a mutual component, possibly your husband is wearing a condom out of loss of have faith. He in all possibility knows which you relatively want teenagers and doubtless he does not have faith you to take start administration pills or something of that nature. you ought to debate this with him as a results of fact in case you do no longer your anger in the direction of him will increase, and he turns into conscious of you as being selfish, non supportive, nagging, and so on. Your marriage will fall apart, I even have seen greater then basically some relationships getting destroyed by ability of the lady desiring babies and the guy no longer.
  • Sorry, but it doesn't sound like he is committed to you or your baby. And you should look into anther military wife helping watch the baby so you can get a job, believe me you'll feel so independent and good about yourself. You can offer to pay little for childcare, and build a nest egg for you and the baby, Because the way its sounding like you might not be with him forever. Unless you like being tucked away for him only when he wants you. Start giving him a choice be here with your family or you find your own place in this world, without him.
  • It would appear so. Baby or no baby, his number one priority should be his family (and yours too, btw). There is nothing you can do about the money that is already gone. You should approach things from the stand point of how his decisions in the past are impacting the reality for both of the women in his life. No man will allow his family to suffer, once he is made aware of the problem. Or maybe I am just too old-fashioned. Why can't you live in the same town if you don't work? That part I find VERY interesting indeed. More details...I will keep you in my prayers.
  • Whats the guy out partying for if he's got you and a one year old at home ? is he insane ? Tell him about the money situation sit him down and tell him to keep his yap shut. You do the talking..You guys need to budget even more so now with a one year old in the house. He needs to step up and be a father and husband and needs to take some very serious responsibility around here.. Quit the partying with the guys..or else well if worse comes to worst...you just may have to give him the biggest ultimatum..either you grow up and step up and provide for me and our daughter or im out of here. There's only so much you can do to shake a guy. And to think he'd have his partying under control after he got married and you guys became parents. Good luck
  • Your husband sounds immature and self-centered. He has put drinking with his buddies before his family. Is there anything you can do? No. Not about him. You can look for a job and bring in some income for yourself and start spending time with your friends and live your life without him until he's ready to be a husband and father. Perhaps when he sees how independent you have become, he may wake up and realize he's going to lose the best thing that has ever happened to him. Do what you can for you - forget about fixing him - you can't fix him and you will only become more and more frustrated and angry if you continue to try to force him to be the man you want him to be. Just say no and forget it!
  • Being military myself, I understand. Sounds like he's more into being single and party-loving and you are stuck at home, with no money, no time alone, and a 1-year old who demands all of your time. Tell him that he needs to start acting like a father and own up to his responsiblities!! You aren't the only one who made that baby and even though he could probably use some time to "let loose", he's making you play second fiddle to something that isn't important in the long run. And yes, he's being a selfish jerk!! Good Luck with that!
  • Kimbo Slice is gonna be in the new Ultimate Fighter season. I know a lot of people doubting him because he's only a street fighter. I honestly don't know what to think because I really don't know much about him. I do find his fights really cool but I know he sucks in the octagon. Does anybody know if he has taken MMA, boxing, kick-boxing lessons. Anything? or did he just learn what he knows from bein' Straight Outta Compton?
  • To prepare for sanctioned MMA fights, Slice was trained by retired MMA fighter Bas Rutten and boxing instructor Randy Khatami at Rutten's school, EliteMMA, in Thousand Oaks, California. They've since split and Kimbo has started a Team Kimbo, but I don't know who's on it. I have to give credit to Kimbo, right now he could be getting a million dollar payday over in Japan fighting in a freakshow, instead he's trying the much less certain and much more difficult route.
  • Your not alone, but horribly mistaken. Kimbo needs to be put up against other up and coming mma fighters to build experience, and get out of the freak shows like mercer and tank abbott. Any educated fighter or fan could easily see that Kimbo has progressed his skills very well and seems to have sharp technique in muay thai and a decent ground game already. About 3 tune up fights and he will be decent hw competition for anyone in the ufc outside fedor probably (who is about to sign w/ ufc) His hands are Not slow as the comment stated above. He has very fast hands for a heavyweight. He is not "bad" for the sport. He is a fighter, he has not failed any drug tests, and he is a proven bad ***. How can this be bad for the sport? Anyway he is already a "Real MMA Fighter" because he has participated in an mma fight and won the fighter legitimately without illegal blows, drugs, or anything else that would make it unreal. You don't have to be a fan, but don't lie about it. This dude is good and also fun to watch, unlike MOST other heavyweights in MMA he actually wants to fight instead of circling and breathing heavy 90% of the time like the suckers whom you probably consider "Real Fighters"
  • He's been training with Bas Rutten for more than 2 years now so he should have made some improvements and adjustments to his game. His ground game cannot possibly suck more than it use to.
  • I think he's a little bit of both but he's gotta get better at wrestling and jujitsu damn he's intimidating though
  • of course he trains in the gym now, and yes he does take lessons
  • Ok so, I'm from California and I consider myself a feminist and I get the impression that a lot of feminists don't like the U.S. government, well I also don't like the government, especially the current administration, but I still love the USA and I personally believe that we do have freedom here and I feel like I was lucky to be born in a nation like this. Also, a lot of great feminists have come from America, like Catherine McKinnon (even though I disagree with some of her beliefs, I still think she was a great feminist) so I think that’s something to be proud of, and if we had no freedom of speech, those feminists never would have been able to do what they did. I think the US has a lot of problems at the moment, but I still like it here and even though I’ve traveled to many countries, I wouldn’t want to live anywhere else. So, is that wrong? I feel like I shouldn’t feel that way?
  • In response to the first answer, I don't think I'm a nationalist, that's a little extreme, but I do consider myself patriotic and aware that I was fortunate to be born here. Even with all our problems, I think we’re very lucky compared to some places on earth, and I think it will be even better if we can elect a president like Obama =)
  • Your country, or your government? Feminists will side with whomever gives them the better deal. If the current administration is not giving enough concessions, then they with support whomever is in opposition. Feminism is about wanting more. It will always follow the biggest payday.
  • I love the land and my fellow people and I define "my country" as that, because thats what it is THE GOVERNMENT is some warmongering robbers I hate them and i hate the apathy that leaves them there getting away with it. They ARE the party that represents the male interest exclusively (boys playing 'war' and 'cops&robbers' AS ADULTS, wrecking whole countries and lives by the millions to do it, and fleecing us to boot!) And that not ok Feminism...go read my starred answers I cant keep writing it again and again. It needs direction. It needs an image change. It needs an agenda that would be helpful normal domestic stuff done by women legislators they could elect (you know instead of just warring and caging people AND THATS ALL--> we could actually do some things decent like education, childcare, health, ending the poverty cycle , fixing the roads and bridges, reinstating the safety regs, truth in advertising laws, bankruptcy laws that were bogusly taken, reforming tax laws, staying within budget, paying OFF the debt... Noone would be against that stuff! Except that everybody's left to be brainwashed into being good parrot heads for the jerks that rob us and leave all that needed stuff undone! You MIGHT have to wake some people up! it took the Rep's 35 years to take over the government. It took the 1st waveof femibnism 70 years to make its accomplishments if women started NOW they could expect to spend some real time dedicated to organizedly playing the system as it is to get in and change it. AND THATS A GOOD THING im saying Feminism good The government we have needs to be fired, and tried as criminals. (No that ISNT overstating it!) And yes I do love this country, the land that it is, my fellow and sister people, So you CAN do all three. It's no conflict.
  • It's absolutely OK to be a feminist and still love America! I am and I do. Feminism and politics certainly overlap; neither is mutually exclusive of the other. For instance, I love the Constitution because it guarantees EVERYONE a nice big list of basic human rights and then proclaims that any rights not enumerated belong to the states and the people. The reason why I hate the government is because it routinely flouts the Constitution and takes that power from the people for its own selfish needs. However, I am still allowed to voice my feminist ideologies in America, something I could not do in dozens of other countries without risking my (or my family's) life.
  • Quite the opposite. Your feminist views mixed with strong positive nationalist feelings will be an asset to you and to feminism as a whole. People who swing too far left in dislike of their own government are at risk of developing some warped views. You sound like you're on better track to remain balanced.
  • When has an American feminist said that she disliked her country? Patriotism and feminism are as compatible as patriotism and anything else. (Except treason, I mean.)
  • No! each person is an indivial
